Breath of Life

Sweet sounds dancing through the air

Fill my ears with heaven

Her voice is trust, it’s child-like faith

Refusal to be down-trodden

“You alone can rescue,

You alone can save”

Echoing in room and heart

The words flow like a wave

The gift of life you’ve granted her –

A promise to all around

That when Your people trust Your Word

True miracles abound

Inhale of hope, exhale of grace

Her laugh so free and wild

Each song she lifts unto Your Name

Reminds us she’s Your child

Tonight I sit in tears of praise

Listening with peace anew

She is yours – completely yours

Her body, our hearts, we offer you

In uncertainty, in times of grief

When sickness gives no warning

You breathe your precious breath of life

Into her lungs each morning.

For my sister, Marjorie Tavis, whose beauty and joy are an inspiration to me every day.

The idea to write it was planted at family night a few weeks ago, but I didn’t actually write it until last night. Thanks, Mama. 🙂
